2001 Spring Summer Color Forecast

International Textiles Magazine 1999. I found these color forecasts very useful in cataloguing past color trends. I’d like to take these predicted palettes and compare them to the images used in fashion magazines to see if the trends were in fact carried out. In the past color forecasts were incredibly important so the textile manufacturer was able to produce items that the fashion world would want and be in need of. With out them it would b nearly impossible for factories to keep with the demand. However, I wonder if this same idea holds true today, with such recent advancements in technology is there is still such a high demand for color forecasts in the textile and fashion industry. Also are these forecasts losing credibility with the wide range of colors now available for people to chose from? Another thought, do we really have a choice when it come to color, or are all our decisions predetermined by a group of people who know that I would prefer a Off Shore Purple to Sky Blue.
