Louis Porter: Australian Colour

November 22, 2010 § Leave a comment

I was really attracted to all of this artists work, stunning photography, however this series of photos , Australian Colour, was particularly related to my color research. I really liked how Porter uses everyday genre scenes to depict the colors of Australia, even if they are just of garbage. I am a big advocate of found art. I think a lot of the garbage or junk we walk by everyday says ALOT about our culture. These images are so vibrant and colorful even when the content is a common place fence or beans eggs (yum). An interesting study could be done on the colors used in different neighborhoods. What do the colors on the street show about that culture, does it depict a clear difference in class? I could do a comparison of color in the city verses color in the suburbs looking to define and contrast specific hues.
